At Care in Mind, we are committed to delivering safe, effective, compassionate, and high-quality care to the young people we support. One of the key ways we stay accountable to this commitment is through our ongoing relationship with the Care Quality Commission (CQC)—the independent regulator of health and social care in England.
Each of our residential homes is registered with the CQC and regulated to provide “Accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care” for young people aged 16-30 as outlined in our Statement of Purpose.
We are often asked why we aren’t registered with Ofsted given we accommodate 16- and 17-year-olds. Because each of our homes supports young people who are ‘wholly or mainly’ over 18, we don’t meet the criteria of a Children’s Home. Equally, because our homes are already registered as ‘care homes’ with the CQC we aren’t required to have additional registration with Ofsted for Supported Accommodation.
As well as the registration in place for each home, our clinical service provision is registered and regulated to provide “Diagnostic and screening procedures” and “Treatment of Disease, Disorder or Injury” and we are proud to say the service is rated “Good” in all areas.
You can find more about each of our homes by clicking on the CQC rating listed for that specific property. These links take you directly to the relevant CQC page, where you’ll find full reports and ratings for your review.
Adhering to CQC standards is not just about compliance—it’s about culture. It reflects our values of safety, integrity, and continuous learning, and ensures that everyone—young people, families, staff, and commissioning partners—can trust in the care we provide.
The CQC helps hold us to account, but also supports improvement across the sector. Their guidance and oversight are key to helping services evolve and respond to changing needs, best practice, and evidence-based care.
By working hand-in-hand with the CQC, we remain focused on what matters most: delivering safe, consistent, and therapeutic environments where young people can grow, recover, and thrive.
