Our founders were working in Tier 4 CAMHS provision and recognised the challenges in securing specialist step-down residential placements for young people with complex mental health needs – and the significant harm caused by delayed discharges and the loss of hope.
Care in Mind was established.
Initially as a Tier 3+ mental health team providing Reach packages into young people’s homes, independent tenancies and residential provisions run by partner providers across the North West.
We opened our first home providing an integrated clinical and specialist residential service – Lyndhurst, West Yorkshire.
We extended our network of clinical hubs to service our growing residential provisions in order to provide clinical services locally. Our clinical hub model allows the option of off-site therapy away from the residential setting, mirroring a community mental health model and providing bases for our regional teams.
We established specialist residential homes across West Yorkshire, Greater Manchester and Lancashire to increase the number of placements available in young peoples’ home areas.
We took our pledge with the Restraint Reduction Network, to demonstrate our commitment to eliminate the use of unnecessary restrictive practices for young people in our care.
We celebrated 10 years of Care in Mind, alongside the milestone of opening our first specialist Eating Disorder residential service.
We now operate 10 homes and deliver our clinical services across the North West and Yorkshire.
