Having been established in 2014, Lyndhurst is one of our more ‘mature’ Care in Mind homes and many of the staff team have worked at the home since its opening. The staff team have an excellent understanding of the Care in Mind model and Safewards for Safe Homes principles are integral to all the staff interventions.

The team recognise that they play a key part in a young person’s recovery and understand the need for encouragement and the ongoing development and promotion of independence skills.

This dedication and understanding has resulted in our last three residents successfully transitioning out of the home to more independent living, with one having recently secured fulltime employment as a learning disability support worker, which she is really enjoying.

The staff team actively encourage engagement with the clinical team and work with the young people to ensure sessions are planned in advance, ensuring staff are available to assist them in getting to therapeutic sessions as well as supporting them afterwards. The residential team work collaboratively with allocated  clinicians, enabling effective communication and true, consistent multidisciplinary working.

Lyndhurst provides a homely, friendly environment where staff do their very best to make all young people and visitors feel welcome.  Living at Lyndhurst provides a stable environment to enable recovery.  We have a great group of young people and the staff are fun and enjoy working at Lyndhurst.  During their last inspection of the home the CQC found that  “care was highly person centred with young people at the heart of what took place in the home”.

Lyndhurst is situated on a residential street in the small town of Liversedge on the outskirts of Huddersfield, near to the city of Leeds.  Lyndhurst is an Edwardian building with lovely spacious rooms including five large bedrooms and plenty of communal areas where young people can relax.  There is a fabulous back garden with a large lawn and a decking area… perfect for BBQs and dining ‘al fresco’ when the weather allows.  Lyndhurst provides many opportunities for activities in the community and in the home.  Locally there are shopping facilities, bowling, cinema etc. which are just a short bus ride away.  There are several places to eat in the local area. Transport is easily accessible in the local area with a main bus route at the bottom of the road and a train station a few miles away.

In-house we like to cook, bake, have movie nights, play board games plus any suggestions the staff or young people may have.
